My Other Creations: Cupcake Collage

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is "Journey."  What does a fabric collage with a cupcake have to do with journeys?  Well, cupcakes do make a delightful road trip snack, but I was actually thinking more metaphorically on this one!  This piece represents how I went from a junior high sewing class failure to someone who's not afraid to mess around with fabric.

I still can't follow a fabric pattern to save my life (they seem so...reminiscent of math and math and I don't mesh).  And because of my junior high sewing debacles, I thought that fabric was my enemy for years and years.  But I've since learned that anyone can add fabric to projects without having to be a professional seamstress.  I love the variety of fabric out there and it's opened up a whole new world for me.  It's like patterned paper, but more flexible and textural.  The possibilities are endless!

So don't be afraid to add some fabric to your work even if you don't do any sewing.  You might be surprised at how addicting fabric can be!

I used all sorts of fun little products on this collage, many of which can be found at Simon Says Stamp:

I can't wait to see what you create for our "Journey" theme!  It can be literal or metaphorical.  Just be sure to upload your masterpiece to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog for a chance to win $50 to the Simon Says Stamp Store!
