This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to think inside the box. I decorated a box and made a tag book that fits inside it.
I'm a big fan of Washi tape, so that's how I start a lot of my projects. Even if I end up covering 99% of it, putting it on paper gets the creative juices flowing and makes me feel like I'm doing something even if I have no idea of where it'll end up. In this case, I cut a square of Strathmore Mixed Media paper to glue on the lid of my box, then I made a scrap tag book (with a black cover). I put Washi tape on each and added some white paint through Altenew's Halftone stencil.
I added a few more white-stenciled dots and some color. I smeared some acrylic paint onto both surfaces. I'm loving the new Olive shade from Dina Wakley!
I cut out some circles and people from Dina Wakley's Weird is Good stamp set, along with Seth Apter's Ring Around die. Seth Apter's dies continue to be some of my favorite go-to shapes. I also added some background stamping with a circle pattern from Carabelle Studio.
I assembled everything together and added a few touches here and there like Tim Holtz's Label Letters and some lines from one of his Correspondence patterned papers. I did some white heat embossing as well. Here's a close-up of the tag notebook:
And here's the cover of the box:
Those little teeth-shaped parts at the bottom are made from the torn-out edge of a piece of notebook paper that's outlined with a black Sharpie. I also added some black and white Washi tape around the lid of the box to give it a finished look.
Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:

My Other Creations: Travel Folders using Jane Davenport Washi Tape
"Road Trip" is this week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I decided to make some mini-folders with a travel theme:
I started with some manila folders I had in my stash (about 5" x 8" in size). I covered them with scraps of gray, white and black patterned paper.
Next I painted mostly everything white.
I added another layer of white and when the paint was dry (overnight), I added some Jane Davenport Washi tape.
Next I smeared on acrylic paint, then whited it out a bit, then added some stamping, more paint, etc. I painted both the insides and the outsides of the folders. I also drizzled some Jane Davenport scented ink down from the top edges and sprayed it with water.
I cut patterned paper into some scallop-shapes for the borders of my folders. I went back in with a black Sharpie and outlined some of the stamped circles and scallop edges. I typed some sentiments out on my We R Memory Keepers typewriter and added those on. Here are the final results:

I do love the thought of road trips, so I can't wait to see how you interpret our theme. be sure to upload your creations to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store!

On this one, I also added a Tim Holtz wildflower that I cut with my Sizzix Big Shot.
