My Other Creations: Creative Dyary Re-do using Jane Davenport Products

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme could not be better!  It's "Tape it Up" and we're featuring Jane Davenport products.  I am a fan of Jane's whimsical colorful creations and used them to spiff up the cover of my Dylusions Creative Dyary.

I started by gluing some of Jane's collage squares onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper.  These collage elements are printed on napkins, so it creates some cool texture.

Bring on the Washi Tape!  I added some of my favorite Jane tapes (Faces and Miss Match) and also used a  few pieces from her Strips and Phrases tape set.

I smeared some white paint around all the edges to blend everything into the background a bit more.  I also scribbled in the white areas with Jane's Aqua Pastel crayons.

I used a paintbrush to add water to the sections where I'd drawn with Aqua Pastels.  I also dripped on some of Jane's Inkredible Inks while the paper was still wet.  Color explosion!

I cut a panel of this collage to fit the cover of my notebook and glued it on using Dina Wakley Ultra Thick Gel Medium (had to do some finagling to allow for that black elastic that keeps the notebook closed, but we got through it).  Then I used a palette knife to smear white paint over a Dina Wakley dot stencil.  I added more white paint here and there to tone down the colors.

Next I cut out the elements for the cover.  The girl, who I think is gorgeous, is one that I cut out of the back cover of Jane's patterned paper pad.  I often cut out elements from the front and back covers of patterned paper packs.  I added other patterned paper and half of an Altenew Tree Ring die to create a "dress" for the girl.  I stamped the sentiment ("Start There" from Impression Obsession) on deli paper so that it would be somewhat transparent when I glued it on.

Here's a close-up of her torso once I added it to my notebook.  LOVE that phrase, too!  Impression Obsession has a lot of great sentiment stamps that range from funny to profound.

I used some other patterned paper scraps to make a scalloped edge on the side and I added a bookmark that you can see poking out of the top in the full-view pic.  I love Jane's drawing style and enjoyed making this notebook!

Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
