My Cards and Tags: Tag Trio using Tim Holtz Paperdolls

It's a Tim-tastic tag challenge this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.  I made a tag trio will some of my favorite Tim Holtz products.

As usual when I don't know what I'm doing on a project, I start by die-cutting the tag shapes and stamping onto them with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink.  I used Tim Holtz's Halftone and Rings stamp set here.

Next I rubbed acrylic paint onto a Remnants stamp, then spritzed it with water.  I stamped it onto my tags.

Using my fingers, I painted some of the circles in with acrylic paint.

I was not loving the colors and these were looking a bit crazy (even for me).  Whenever I feel like this, I whip out the white paint and a palette knife.  I covered over a lot of the areas to tone them down a bit.  I ripped scraps of patterned paper from Tim's Correspondence set and glued them in place.  Then I cut a scribble circle out of black paper and Tim's Scribbles and Splat die.  I only cut one scribbly circle, but I cut it up into three sections and glued one of each to my tags.  I also added some Tim alphabet Washi tape strips to the bottom.

I added a little more white paint, then I grabbed my Prima Oil Pastel Crayons. I scribbled around the black circles, blending the colors and pulling them down a bit into the tags.

Last but not least, I added some paper doll characters.  I cut pointy hats for the ladies and crowns for the gentlemen.  I glued on some big bold Quote Chip words to the bottoms of the tags and outlined everything with a black Sharpie.

Though my journey from Point A to Point B often surprises me, I do like how these tags turned out in the end.  Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
