My Cards and Tags: Travel Tags made from Postcards

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is, "Cityscape."  I decided to make tags out of some landscape postcards.

I started with a set of postcards that came with Altenew's Reflections Scrapbook Kit and some tag dies from the Sizzix Tag Collection.

I cut some tag shapes out like so...

I wanted to add some different colors into the mix, so I painted over some sections with white Gesso and added some scraps of patterned paper.

I brightened them back up by coloring/smudging Prima Oil Pastel Crayons on them.  These crayons are a favorite tool of mine because while they are oil pastels, they're water-soluble so you can blend them nicely with just a touch of water.  I also stamped along the horizon line with some border stamps by AALL & Create.

I typed some travel sentiments, "wander on" and "adventurer" and added those.  I smudged some black and grey oil pastels around the edges and gave the tags a pop of color with some neon pink ink.

On this tag, I also added a squiggly circle stamp by Dina Wakley to the background.

I couldn't decide whether to go vertical or horizontal with these and think they look cool either way.  This also inspired me to see what else I could cut tags shapes out of.  :)

Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
