My Cards and Tags: Encouragement Tags using Heffy Doodle Tag Along Dies

"Bright and Cheerful Colors" is this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme and that is about as easy-peasy as it could get for me!  I am always drawn to bright bold colors!

As I was sorting through my stash, I decided to try out a tag die set from Heffy Doodle called, "Tag Along Dies."  I really like the whimsical shape and thought that a horizontal tag was a nice change of pace from the vertical tags I love to use.
I started with two tags cut using Heffy Doodle's Tag Along die set and Strathmore Mixed Media paper.  I stuck on some pieces of Tim Holtz's Salvaged and Merchant tapes.

Next I added on some acrylic paint.  I used a lot of Dylusions paint since they have a lot of bright colors.

More acrylic paint!  I covered some areas in white, then added different accent colors.

I wanted to tone it down a bit, so I added more white paint through a polka dot stencil.

When the paint dried, I got out my Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastels and did some scallop-doodling.  Then I added darker shades of acrylic paint around the edges.

I cut some building shapes using Tim Holtz's Cityscape Skyline dies and added those on.  I also stamped some black polka dots on using Flora and Fauna's Texture 5 set.  Then I did some sewing along the bottom edge of each tag.

I typed some encouraging words on my We R Memory Keepers typewriter and added them to the front with some black and white patterned paper in the background.

My Other Creations: Mini Scrap Notebooks

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to make anything but a card.  You know how I'm obsessed with mini notebooks, so I whipped up four of them that are filled with patterned paper scraps.

I started by making a bunch of watercolor squiggles on some white paper.

Next I made some circles and scribbly marks using Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastels.  I also drizzled/splattered some acrylic ink onto it.

I cut my paper into strips that were about 2.5" wide by 6" long.

I adhered each strip to a piece of black Strathmore Mixed Media paper and sewed around the edges to make sure the pieces stayed together.  I added some scraps of patterned paper (some of which I made by stamping black images on white paper).

I smeared paint onto the covers and added more collage scraps and Washi tape.  I also added some wildflower silhouettes from a Tim Holtz die.  I sewed some designs on (wonky circles) and used paperclips to hold the covers closed to see how things were looking.

Instead of putting plain paper inside, I wanted to make some stacks of patterned paper.  I sewed the stacks together and stuck them inside my notebooks.

Here's a peek inside the notebooks:

To keep them shut, I dug up some hair elastics, which I wrapped around the bottom of each notebook.

I love little notebooks and these were a joy to create!
