My Other Creations: Simon Says Stamp Add a Photo Challenge using Dina Wakley's White Media Journal

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is to "add a photo."  Add a photo I did!  One year while on vacation, I took a picture of this sweet-looking retro van that was parked in the middle of a forest.  I've always wondered what its story was and wanted to highlight it for today's journal page.

I started with my Dina Wakley white media journal that has thick textured pages and is square in shape (which I love).  I printed my photo onto plain old white paper and cut it down to size for the page.

I glued my photo to the page using a UHU glue stick.  With a palette knife, I smeared some white acrylic paint around the edges.  While the paint was still wet, I shook on some Infusions color stain (A Bit Jaded and Slime) and spritzed it with water using my Distress Sprayer.

I used a heat tool to dry things out, then used Tim Holtz's Stitched stencil and Dylusions' Pure Sunshine paint to add some orange X's to the scene.  I also smeared some acrylic paint around the edges (Dina Wakley's Mineral, Peacock and Olive).

I added little touches of magenta and went looking for a sentiment that reflected a sense of adventure.  I found the perfect one in Dina Wakley's Collage 2 book, Vol 1.  I cut it out and glued it to my photo.

And with that, I was done!

Here are the supplies that I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:

My Cards and Tags: Time Machine Tag using Dina Wakley's Collaged Girls Stamp Set

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog theme is steampunk.  I included a steampunk-inspired quote for my tag that uses Dina Wakley's new Collaged Girls stamp set.

This one was kind of a blur.  I started with Strathmore Mixed Media black paper this time, painted it white, then added some circles and colors and shapes with Jane Davenport's Mermaid Markers and Prima's Water Soluble Oil Pastels.  After that, I stamped on this girl image (from Dina Wakley's Collaged Girls stamp set), then did some painting with acrylics and some outlining with a Sharpie.  I doodled a scallop border at the base and filled it in with Tim Holtz Fabric Tape.  I added some Label Tape, too, and finished this off with a sentiment I typed on a typewriter.
