Explore the World is this week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I lack time and money to be able to travel the world at this point in life, so I made a Magical Transport Box instead. Just turn the dial and presto! You're somewhere wonderfully dreamy!
I started off by using one of PaperArtsy's Eclectica Everything Art stamp sets, which I love, and paper-pieced together the spinning destination wheel using various pieces of patterned paper. When it was done, I added some of my favorite destinations to each wedge of the circle.
Next I covered an old greeting card box with patterned paper (Bloom by Crate Paper), then streaked on some yellow, orange and white paint for a little more oomph.
I stamped here and there on the background and then attached my spinner wheel with a brad. I added the "You Are Here" sentiment and arrow from My Favorite Things' "Go With It" stamp set. I added some flowers up the side using Martha Stewart's Hydrangea punches and added the repeated Magical Transport Box sentiment that I typed out in Word.
So what's inside the box? I covered it with map paper from Authenique and polka-dot paper from Simple Stories. It holds photographs of people and places I love.
I also made a magnet board covered with patterned paper that fits inside the box, which I can display any one of these pictures on. I made a magnet for it out of Scrabble tiles that says, "Go!" It seemed like just the right enthusiastic word to get me moving toward my favorite places.
Here are the supplies I used from Simon Says Stamp:
