"Time Out" is this week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I decided to pay homage to morning and nighttime with these two little bird cards.
I started with two squares of Strathmore Mixed Media paper smeared with acrylic paint. Then I stenciled some polka dots on with more acrylic paint.
Next I dripped and drizzled some Jane Davenport Inkredible ink onto the surfaces and spritzed the ink with water.
When the ink dried, I added more stenciling and some paint in different colors. I also smeared on some Distress Ink and Hero Arts ink for some different tones.
I added some circle-center frames made with patterned paper and blended them in a bit with more acrylic paint.
I cut the birds out of some collaged paper scraps from my stash and outlined them with a black marker. I colored and smeared around the edges with Marabu Watercolor Art Crayons.
I made a crown for my pink and yellow bird and put everything together, including the stamped "Early Bird" sentiment. I also used a Seth Apter Splatter Proof die to add some more oomph to the background.
I made a party hat for my nighttime bird and put all the elements together.
Here are the supplies I used, which you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
