My Other Creations: Travel Folio using Dylusions Dyalog Pocket Inserts

"Summertime Fun" is this week's theme over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.  Nothing says "Summertime Fun" to me more than a road trip!  I made a travel folio where I can stash bits of paper and other ephemera I pick up from places I visit.  My travel folio consists of three individual folders with pockets that I combined into one unit.

I started out with these fun Dylusions Dyalog Pocket inserts.  Three came in the pack and each folder opens up to reveal lots of pockets for stashing paper.

I covered parts of the folders with text paper and white paint and glued on some scraps of patterned paper as well.  I stamped images onto my folders once the paint dried.  I used Ranger Jet Black Archival for the stamped portions.

While my paint was drying, I made some of my own patterned paper by stamping onto black paper with embossing ink and heat-embossing the images with white embossing powder.

I also found some old flashcards that I wanted to incorporate.  I colored them with Prima Oil Pastel crayons, smeared the crayon marks with water, then sprinkled Infusions on and spritzed the cards with water.

I combined all my elements and stamped and heat embossed some black images to run vertically up the middle of the folders.  I also spritzed each folder with Marabu Acrylic Art Spray for a drippy final touch.

I tied a piece of elastic string up the center of my folders (like a big rubber band) to hold my three folders together at the back and added a yarn tassel for good measure.

Here's a view of one of the inside sections:

And here it is clipped together and laying down flat:
