A great way to paint a white piece of paper quickly and easily is to use a large gel printing plate. I dripped and drizzled acrylic paint onto my 8" x 10" gel plate and transferred the paint onto a big piece of Strathmore Mixed Media paper. Here's what the gel print looked like:
When the paint was dry, I cut out two covers for my book using the Sizzix Traveler's Notebook die and my Sizzix Big Shot. I added a little more white paint to tone things down.
I also cut out the pages for my book using some old "ledger" patterned paper that I had in my stash. These are all folded in half.
I decorated my cover and then sewed my cover pieces together using the spine-shaped die that I also cut out of my gel-printed paper.
I sewed my pages down the spine and attached them to my cover like so:
I had used a stamp from Inky Antics' Big Houses set as the focal point and added some yellow and pink from watercolors.
To finish it off, I added some fabric scraps and some paper pieces along the top and sides.
