Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Halloween Card using Whimsy Stamps Spell Book and Spell Book Potions Stamp Sets

Happy Monday and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  This week our theme is to incorporate trees.  I decorated the cover of my spell book with some Halloween tree images from Tim Holtz.  The spell book itself is from Whimsy Stamps.

I have to say that this Spell Book stamp set and its sister-set, Spell Book Potions, is a wonderful collection!  The Spell Book stamp set comes with the outline of the book and one spell book title, but if you have both stamp sets, you can customize the cover and make several different clever books.  I love stamp sets that offer different possibilities!  For this project, I started by stamping the book and choosing the title, which I also stamped on.  Because this week's challenge was to incorporate trees, I added some tree images onto my cover from Tim Holtz's Sketch Manor stamp set.  I adding a little color with Distress Watercolor Pencils.

I also used watercolors and ended up adding a final layer of color with Distress Crayons, which smudge beautifully when you need a good smudged look.

With my book complete, I cut a background panel out of black cardstock.  I used Tim Holtz's Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer to give the edges a rougher look.  I glued my book to the background and stamped over it with a cobweb stamp, also from Tim Holtz.  I heat embossed the cobwebs and added white and green paint around the edges of the black cardstock.  To make my book stand out even more from the black background, I outlined the cover with a white Posca pen.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Halloween Card using Papertrey Ink's Bewitching Bookcase Stamp Set

Happy Monday and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  This week's theme is Halloween/Spooky.  I'm not a fan of real spooky stuff, so I made a card out of this cute Halloween bookcase stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

It was a lot of fun to stamp the bookcase shape and then fill it in with all sorts of books and bottles and potions.  I also stamped the banner.

I cut out the banner and added it to the front of my bookcase and then cut the background panels for the card using AALL & Create's Numberama die set.

I assembled the different layers like so:

I wanted a little more color in the background and a grungier look, so I added paint around the edges.  I also did a little scribbling with Distress Watercolor Pencils to bring in some green tones.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Halloween Tag using Papertrey Ink's VIP Ticket Collection

Welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  This week our theme is to "think pink" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  I added pops of pink to my Halloween ticket tag that was made with some Papertrey Ink products.

I started by cutting out Papertrey Ink's ticket die shape and stamped it with images from Papertrey Ink's VIP Ticket Collection: Halloween.  The pink polka dots in the background are from Tim Holtz's Mixed Media 2 stamp set.

I also grabbed a girl image from Tim Holtz's Photobooth set and cut out a hat to fit her from Tim's Frightful Things die set.  I added some pink tones to the hat using Distress Watercolor Pencils and paint.

All that was left was to assemble!  I added in some diagonal pink-striped washi tape to the photo and I flicked on some Dylusions Tropical Sangria Ink Spray.  I added a little more pink paint to bump up the color and smudged around the edges of the ticket with black ink.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Happy Halloween Tag using Tim Holtz's Vault Ghost Town and Moonlight Scare Die Sets

Welcome to October and to another fun Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  Our theme this week is to "tag it".  We're also featuring the products of Tim Holtz.  I went with a Halloween scene and used some of Tim's older and newer stamp sets and dies.

I started with a piece of Distress Kraft Heavystock and painted it with blues and purples to create a night sky background.  I flicked Dina Wakley's Media White Gloss Spray on it to mimic stars.

While that dried, I cut out two rickety houses from Tim Holtz's Vault Ghost Town die set.  I glued yellow paper behind the shapes to make it look like light was coming through the windows, then I dabbed on some yellow paint to give the light a fuzzy glow type of look.  I also added some subtle shading to the houses using Distress Watercolor Pencils.

I decided to add a spiderweb to the background instead of a moon.  The spiderweb is from Tim's Trick or Treat stamp set (an oldie but a goodie).  I stamped it with Distress Embossing Ink, then heat embossed it with a heat tool and white embossing powder.  I also added a bit of white to my houses to make them stand out from the dark background a little bit better.  I also scribbled around the edge of the tag with a Distress Watercolor Pencil.

Next I stamped my sentiment, which came from Tim's stamp and stencil combo pack THMM194.  I also cut out some bats from the Vault Moonlight Scare die set.

I glued everything together and my tag was complete!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Tag using Tim Holtz Glitch 2 Stamp Set and Spellbinders Reminiscence Paper

It's another Monday (for better or worse) and that means another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  This week the challenge is to make your own background.  That's exactly what I did for this tag, which uses Tim Holtz's Glitch 2 stamp set and Spellbinders' Reminiscence paper.

I started by painting white onto some kraft cardstock.  When the white paint dried, I stamped some images onto it using Tim Holtz's Glitch 2 stamp set.

Next I added color to the images using watercolors and Dina Wakley's Scribble Sticks.

I cut my patterned kraft paper into a tag shape using a die from AALL & Create.  I also splattered on some Dina Wakley media gloss in a nice watery blue color.

I got out my Spellbinders Reminiscence paper pad and cut out a panel, then punched some circles out of it.  I glued it to my tag.  I added paint inside the circles, then cut out some more little scraps of the Reminiscence paper and added them to my tag, along with some scribbling.

I made a background layer for my tag with the same AALL & Create die set.  I cut it out of blue cardstock, which I added paint to.  I outlined the edges of my original tag with a black Sharpie to make it stand out a little more.  I also cut out a "Remember good things" sentiment from the Reminiscence paper pad and glued that to the front.

I glued my tag to the background tag to frame it out and this project was done!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Stamptember 2026 Haunted Garden Stamp Set Card

Welcome to STAMPtember!  I love this time of year and the fun stamp sets and collaborations that you can find at Simon Says Stamp.  For this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge, the theme is stamping and we are featuring some of the STAMPtember sets.  I made a card using Simon's Haunted Garden stamp set.

I started by stamping the image with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink and colored it with watercolors and Distress Watercolor Pencils.

Next I cut the image out with Simon's Scalloped Arches Frames dies.  I made a black arch to go around it and shortened the arch to better fit the image.

I painted a background and glued the scallop-edged panel to the background piece.  I cut the edges of the panel with Tim Holtz's Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer.

I finished off the card by adding polka dots using a Tim Holtz stencil, then glued the panel to a black background.
