Hello, hello and welcome to another new challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! Our theme this week is "Things with Wings." I thought, why not add wings to a human? So I went with this wonderfully quirky girl image from Kate Crane and did just that.
I cut the tag shape out of Distress Heavystock and used Gina K's Beautiful Bookmarks die set. I glued some Dina Wakley Ledger 1 paper to the background and added some white acrylic paint. Then I got out some Doodlebug plaid washi tape and created a rectangular frame shape on the tag. Next I scribbled around the edges with Distress Watercolor Pencils and added more paint to blend things in.
Since this challenge was all about wings, I stamped some polka dots onto newsprint using Tim Holtz's Mixed Media 2 stamp set and Distress Ink. Then I cut out the wing shapes and outlined them with a black pen.
My tag needed a little more visual pow, so I scribbled some scallop shapes at the top and painted them in. I also added some black blotch/dot shapes that sort of looked like they represented flight. I outlined the tag with a black pen.
I glued wings to my girl and glued my girl to the tag. I added a final touch of some Tim Holtz cello sticker tape here and there. This tag was ready for take off!
