My Other Creations: Halloween Sign using Whimsy Stamps' Monster Parade Die Set and Izink's Ice Glaze

This week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is SPOOKY!  I've never been the type to go for gory-scary-spooky, but I do like quirky and whimsical and thought this Monster Parade die set from Whimsy Stamps would be perfect for my Halloween Sign.

To make this project, I started with a long strip of Strathmore Mixed Media paper and I cut out several silhouette images out of black cardstock.  I wasn't sure which I would use, but it was an inspiring cadre of characters!

Next I stuck some Altenew washi tape on the top of my paper and stenciled some white dots (using My Favorite Things' Wonky Dots stencil) onto the rest of the paper.

I stamped some text (from Inky Antics' Encouraging Words stamp set) onto the background, then I smeared more white acrylic paint around.  I sprinkled some Infusions colored stain on, then hit the whole thing with some water using Tim Holtz's Distress Sprayer.

At this point, I reached for my Izink Ice Glaze and smeared that over everything using a palette knife.  The glaze is cool because it remains translucent, but still vibrant.  You get some really great layers of color with it.  After that dried a bit, I added more acrylic paint onto the top edge (Dina Wakley's Night) and onto the bottom (Dina Wakley's Olive).  I also flicked some Dylusions Black Marble ink on it to get a couple of splatter-dots here and there.  Here's a view of the whole thing....

And a close-up:

Next I used my Sizzix Big Shot and a Tim Holtz alphabet die to cut out the "Let the games begin" sentiment.  I glued everything on and it was done!

My Other Creations: Tim Holtz Mini Glitch Tag Book

Dry Embossing is this week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.  I dry-embossed some of the stamp layers on this scrappy little tag notebook featuring products from Tim Holtz.

This is just a mish-mash of painting, stenciling, stamping and washi tape.  The cover is made from a tag that I cut in half, then sewed back together with a fabric spine.

The inside is filled with some pages made with Tim Holtz's patterned paper and label ephemera.

Quick and easy, these little scrappy tag books have become a favorite project of mine to make.  Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
