Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Textured Tag using Cardboard

Our theme this week over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is to add some texture.  I didn't look any further than my recycling bin where I found some lovely cardboard scraps!

I started with a tag, which I cut out of Strathmore Mixed Media paper and a tag die.  I added some painting to the background, along with some Infusions and Distress Oxide Spray through a dotted stencil.

Next I scribbled some white text onto black paper with an embossing pen.  Then I heat-embossed the text with white embossing powder.

I glued down some text scraps, then I stamped some ruler images onto paper (thanks to Elizabeth Crafts' Measurements stamp set) and glued that onto my tag base as well.

Time for the cardboard!  I tore up some cardboard scraps and painted them all sorts of different colors using acrylic paint, then let them dry.

I tore those scraps even smaller and glued them onto my tag.  I got out my Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks and circled around the carboard with some orange scribbles.  I glued a scrap of polka-dot fabric to the top of the cardboard section then found some random words that I cut out of a book and glued to the front of the tag to finish it off.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Something New with AALL & Create's Penned with Love, Heartnook, and Petal Pottery Dies

Welcome to 2025 and another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.  Fittingly, the theme is "something new".  We are also highlighting products from AALL & Create.  I love this brand and use their products all the time!  For this week's project, I utilized some of their newer dies to make a collaged MemoryDex card.

I started by using the Penned with Love MemoryDex file card, which I cut out of Distress Kraft Heavystock paper.  I cut the inside out of Dina Wakley ledger paper.  I did some stamping on the ledger paper with AALL & Create's Vocabulary Blend stamp set.  Even though I knew I'd be covering most of it up, it always helps me to fill in the empty space with something until a plan comes together!

Next I cut some circles and rings using AALL & Create's Heartnook die set.  I glued down the circle shapes and added some paint.

After some looking and tweaking, I decided I didn't like the look of four circles for this particular project, so I pulled off the right two circles/rings to let more of the lettering show through.  On the left side, I added some AALL & Create Power Words washi tape and painted some new circle shapes, which I glued down and outlined with black pen.  I also stamped some numbers from AALL & Create's Bits of Alpha stamp set and glued them all around the edges.

I grabbed AALL & Create's Petal Pottery dies and cut some of them out of black paper.  I was intrigued with the shape of the vases as with anything else, so I cut some extra vases and turned them different ways.

I played around with the black vase-shapes some more, cut them up, then glued them to the background for some abstract-ish shapes.

The vase shapes were pretty bold, so I toned them down with a little bit of white paint.  For the finishing touches, I typed up a sentiment, did some final stamping and painting on the card and it was done!
