Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Glimmer and Sparkle using Impression Obsession's She Was Tired Stamp and Altenew's Mid-Century Frame Die

One of my all time favorite quote stamps (and I do mean ALL TIME FAVORITE) is Impression Obsession's "She Was Tired."  You have got to read the whole thing!  It talks about being our bold sparkly selves.  I took just a few of the words from the quote stamp and rearranged them for my project since this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is Glimmer and Sparkle.

I started with Strathmore Mixed Media black paper, though I don't know why I bothered when I ended up covering the whole thing anyway.  Sometimes I make my crafty life a lot more difficult than it needs to be!  Regardless, I covered the black paper with lots of white dots from Tim Holtz's Splotches stencil and white acrylic paint.

Fast forward through a lot of indecision and experimentation and I outlined some of the circles with Distress Crayons (Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean and Peeled Paint), then smudged the colors around.  I added some more acrylic paint to the circles (Dina Wakley's Olive and Distress Paint in Salvaged Patina).  I then glued down a swath of Bingo-looking paper from Simple Stories' Family Fun collection.

It was crying out for more color variety, so I added some Dina Wakley Blush, Fuchsia and Lemon paint as well as Distress Paint (Kitsch Flamingo).  I also heat-embossed some quote words from Impression Obsessions' "She was Tired" stamp set onto black paper.  I cut out a cool sunburst frame using Altenew's Mid-Century Frame die and then punched a hole out of some scrap collage paper from a previous project.  I used a girl photo from Tim Holtz's Photo Booth set and added a crown and a dress to her.

All that was left was to put it all together!

My Other Creations: Journal Page using Dina Wakley's You are the Universe Stamp Set and White 6x6 Journal

It's all about spritz and splatter this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog, so spritz and splatter I did!

I started out using Dina Wakley's 6x6 white media journal.  The pages are so thick and richly textured that they held up nicely to the 2 liters of water I'm pretty sure I spritzed on there!  My first step was to drop some gobs of Distress Paint on the page then I blasted the paint with several spritzes of water until it spread out in color blobs.  When the page was still wet, I flicked on some drops of Dina Wakley Gloss Spray in Turquoise and Mineral.

When the paint dried (it took awhile after my aqua-fest) I grabbed my Altenew Halftone stencil and smeared some white acrylic paint through it.

While that was drying, I whipped out a new set of dies from the Just Lou Mindful Moodling Collection ("moodling" apparently being a term for your mood plus doodling).  This die set is numbered as 29 and it comes with some very wonky-cool circles and ring shapes.  I cut them out of black paper, then painted them a bit, not sure how or which rings I'd be using at this point.

I decided on the rings and glued them to my page using an UHU glue stick.  Then I thought I'd get spritzy again, so I shook on some Infusions stain powder (Sleight Blue and Emerald Isle) and spritzed it with water.  You know I can't go ten seconds without adding paint, so I went back in with some green and teal tones (Dina Wakley's Olive and Aloe).

I felt like I needed some oomph toward the bottom of the page, so I grabbed some Simple Stories Lemon Twist patterned paper and cut/created a border of wonky scallops.

I still needed a star of the show, so I turned to Dina Wakley's You are the Universe stamp set.  I stamped a silhouette onto white paper and had all of my page elements ready.

I fussy-cut the silhouette then painted it with bright colors.  I cut out the word "Be" from Dina's Collage Words and glued that on as well.  Then I glued all of the page elements in place.  I added a strip of stamped text paper to the bottom of the page along with a touch of Midnight Blue paint (Paper Artsy).  Just to give the page one last hurrah with splatters, I flicked on some drops of Dina's Gloss Spray (Night) and this page was done!
