Simon Says Stamp: Things with Wings Tag using Carabelle Studio's Head and Shoulders Stamp Set and Mama Elephant's Globies Grid Cover Die

"Things with wings" is this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme, so I added some fanciful fluttery wings to this quirky person from Carabelle Studio's Head and Shoulders stamp set and made a tag.

I don't know if I've gotten lazier or smarter as I age, but lately I've been using a lot of leftover scraps from previous projects for new projects.  Recycling bits and pieces from past projects is a great time-saver and you get a lot more bang for your buck out of your initial time investment.

I cut a white tag out of Strathmore Mixed Media paper with Waffle Flower's Nested Tags die set.  Then I grabbed this scribbly stamped collage I'd made a few weeks ago and cut it with Mama Elephants' Globies Grid Cover die.

I glued the cut patterned paper onto my tag and instantly had a colorful background!

With the globe shapes that had been cut out, I painted and colored on them and then glued them back in place.  I added more white paint to tone things down a bit.

Next I stamped and fussy-cut this quirkly little person from Carabelle Studio's Head and Shoulders stamp set.  I whipped out my Copics to color the person, then I added paint and cut out a hat and wings.  The wings were cut out of Dina Wakley's Ledger paper, Set 1.

The person was crazy and the background was crazy, so I needed some sort of layer in between.  I sewed together some scraps (including a tea bag that was also left over from a previous project).  The text strips and bits were made with Tim Holtz's stamps.  I glued all my layers together.

I now had my three elements ready to go: the background tag, my main character, and the "buffer layer" to go in between.

I glued everything together and then stamped the word "Fly" using My Favorite Things' Connected stamp set.  I added umber paint around the edge of the tag and this little project was done!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: House on Wheels using Tim Holtz's Paper Village #2 Die Set and AALL & Create's Poets Washi Tape

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is "things with wheels."  I cannot resist the urge to put houses on wheels, so here is my project:

I started with Kraft Heavystock paper and Tim Holtz's Paper Village #2 die set.  I cut out the house pieces, then added some white paint so the colors I was planning to add would show up brighter.

Next I tacked on some AALL & Create's Poet washi tape and added more paint colors.  This is a very exciting moment in the universe because Dina Wakley has added fluorescent paint to her collection!  I know!  I've only been waiting for this for like five years or so.  I could not wait to get my hands on the hot pink and it did not disappoint.  And appropriately enough, it is named Stoked.  Amen to that!

I assembled my house, then I got out my Tim Holtz Junk Drawer Baseboards to use for the front decor of my house and for the base.  I sanded them a bit and added some paint around the edges.  I wrapped some wire through the holes in the 65 piece.  I also added a few more colors to my house.

I glued my house elements together and got working on the wheels.  I found some wooden spools in my stash and covered them with Tim Holtz linen tape.

I cut out some letters and text paper and glued those to the front and backs of my wheels, then added some more paint.  I assembled everything.  And then, because I like to do things the hard way and didn't learn from the last time I made a house, I decided to add some flowers coming out the roof after I'd already glued all my points of access shut.  I had to poke holes down into my roof and glue the flowers in place in a backwards-ish sort of manner.  If you're trying this move, stick something through the roof BEFORE the house is assembled!

I added a fabric pennant to the top and this little house was ready to roll!  Get it?  Roll?  Because it's on wheels?  I know, I know.  I'll stick to crafting :).

Here's a side view of the finished product:

I liked making this little house and am looking forward to what you create that has wheels.  Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Frame It Notebook using Whimsy Stamps' Boho Basic Stitches Die Set and Carabelle Studio's The Elegant Man Stamp

Welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  This week's theme is Frame It.  I created a notebook cover framed out with circle dies from Whimsy Stamps.

I started with a piece of Strathmore Mixed Media paper that I painted with water and acrylic paint.  If you see the finished product here, you might ask, as I did, why even bother painting something that gets totally covered up in the end?  I know.  Chalk it up to the process and not knowing where anything will end up.

While that was drying, I cut some circles/rings using Whimsy Stamps' Boho Basic Stitches Die Set.  I fingerpainted onto the rings with acrylic paint.

I went back to my background page and added some white polka dots using Tim Holtz's Dotted stencil, but here again, this all gets covered up anyway.

I stamped this dapper gent and using a stamp from Carabelle Studio (The Elegant Man) and added some AALL & Create washi tape to give him some extra pep.  I toned down my background with some white paint, then practiced laying everything out.

I glued everything down, added a few more pops of color and included a strip of alphabet text from Tim Holtz's Glitch 2 stamp set.  I made a border at the bottom using more of the AALL & Create's washi tape.  I typed out the "Be not daunted" sentiment on a typewriter and added that on.  I went around the edges with dark brown paint and when that dried, I sewed my cover to a notebook.  I splattered on some Dina Wakley black media gloss spray.  To keep the notebook closed, I added an elastic with a washi tape flag on it.

Here's a picture showing the elastic as a separate element:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Love is in the Air Tea Bag Envelopes using Paper Artsy Infusions

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is "love is in the air."  We are also highlighting products from Paper Artsy.  I converted some tea bags into little love note envelopes.

I started out with some tea bags I found in my stash (unused and with no tea inside.  I suppose they were created so you can make your own tea?  I don't know much about tea, but I liked the bags for crafty purposes).  I sprinkled Paper Artsy Infusions color stain powder onto each bag, then sprayed them with water and let them dry.  One thing I like about the Infusions color stains are that they come with dark brown grains, which adds another layer of color.

I smeared and dabbed on some acrylic paint next.

I tore up a collage that I made for a project a couple of weeks ago and glued on the scraps.  I also added some stamping from Tim Holtz's Media Marks 2 stamp set.

I added some white paint and scribbled a border on each tea bag using Distress watercolor pencils.  I finished these off by stamping the "love" sentiment from one of the Christmas phrases in Tim Holtz's Seasonal Scribbles stamp set, cutting it out, and gluing it to the front of the envelopes.
