My Cards and Tags: Thinking of You Cards using Inky Antics' Branching Out

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is, "Thinking of You."  I made a couple of cards using Inky Antics' Branching Out stamp set.

I used Strathmore Mixed Media paper and did some watercoloring in the background.  Then I stenciled over the watercolors with white acrylic paint using two different dot-sized stencils.  Next I stamped and fussy-cut some branches.  I covered some of the leaves with Tim Holtz Washi tape and painted them.  I glued them onto the cards and flecked some Dylusions Black Marble ink spray onto them.  I typed the "Thinking of you," sentiment and glued that on as well.  I outlined the cards with a black Sharpie.

Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:

My Other Creations: Notebook using AALL and Create's 191 Stamp

"Thanks/Thanksgiving" is this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog theme.  We're also featuring products from AALL & Create.  As I was thinking about all the things I'm grateful for, the loving homes I've lived in came to mind.  That inspired this mini notebook.

I stamped the house, fussy-cut it out and colored it with Distress Crayons and some collage scraps.  I glued it onto the notebook cover, which I stamped background designs onto and colored with acrylic paint.  I added the sentiment and was done.

My Other Creations: Journal Page using Dina Wakley's 6x6 White Journal

There's nothing like an art journal to get messy in!  This week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog is art journaling, so I reached for my Dina Wakley 6x6 white journal.  The pages are thick and richly-textured so that you end up with a totally different look than what you'd get with a smooth-paper journal.  Here's how my page turned out:
I started by spraying my page with Dylusions Shimmer Spray, then spritzing it with water to let the colors blend.  I didn't know these shimmer sprays existed until recently and was excited to give them a try since I love the vibrancy of Dylusions paints and sprays.  They did not disappoint.  The color is as bold as I'd expected but there is a bit of shine added in.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but if you angle the page back and forth in the light, the shimmery sheen looks great!

Next I went in with some white acrylic paint,  both smeared on and applied through a polka dot stencil.

More color added in!  I added some darker blues, greens and purples, then drizzled neon pink along the top of the page, then spritzed it with water and let it drip down.  I also stamped on the background with text and a criss-cross plaid stamp.  I used a palette knife to add more smears of white on top.

I cut some scallop shapes (both by hand and with a die and die-cutting machine) and glued them to the bottom of the page.  I also added on some pieces of Washi tape and some black and white patterned paper.

I darkened the edges a bit with browns and blacks (Distress Crayons), added some final polka dot stamping and the word "make believe" to finish this off.
