I started by cutting six tags of various sizes out of Strathmore Mixed Media paper. I used my favorite go-to tag die set: the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Tag Collection. I folded each tag in half using a scoring board and glued on some patterned paper scraps. The reason I made a fold line was so that I could see what the cover area would end up being when they were folded in half.
Next I added white paint through stencils for some background texture.
I smeared on various colors of acrylic paint and also added some stamping once the paint dried.
I toned it down with white paint. I stenciled more white dots on top of the paint with Altenew's Halftone stencil and smeared some more white paint onto different areas.
Next I cut die shapes to use on the covers. I cut lots of circles and loops and some flowers and outlined the flowers with a black pen.
Here are close-up's of some of the flower elements in place:
I sewed scrap paper inside of each tag using a sewing machine. I added some words to the front as well as some stamped scraps. I edged out my notebook covers with black paint and black oil pastel crayons smeared a bit. A paper clip keeps each one closed up nicely.
