"Shoot for the Stars" is our theme this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. I took some major liberties with Jane Davenport's Bubble Palace die to make this tag:
Here's a picture of the awesome Bubble Palace die (in pieces), along with the tag I cut. I trimmed the die in different ways and ended up with these fun shapes that looked kind of like wonky crowned people to me.
From there, the process took lots of crazy turns. I started by stenciling some words in the background with white paint, then spritzed on ink and sprays.
I glued on my little silhouette die shapes as well as some stars.
I added some acrylic paint next.
Then I decided I didn't like it. Urgggghhhhh! I felt like it was just too crazy with everything going all over the place and no real focal point. So, whenever something goes awry, I cover it up with white paint and start over again. Here's where that left us:
Yikes! Now I missed all of the color! Grrrrr. I added some color back in using water soluble oil pastels. I also tacked on a little polka dot Washi tape and some label tape. I decided I would go for oranges and pinks instead of dark blues and purples, so I changed that, too, added some stamping and a few more stars. I outlined the die-cut shapes with a black Sharpie to make them stand out a bit more.
I stamped and cut out the "grow love" sentiment and decided I was finally at peace with this tag!
Here are the supplies I used, which you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
