My Other Creations: Card using Altenew's Mid-Century Frame Die and Dina Wakley's Collage Collective

"Early Bird" is this week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog, so I borrowed some great images from Dina Wakley to make this card celebrating a bird and the hope that comes with the dawning of a new day.

This started out quite differently from the end result, but that's all part of a project's journey, right?  I started by punching out patterned-paper circles from My Mind's Eye's Gingham Gardens collection.  Then I painted a tag with Dina Wakley's Mineral paint and Tumbled Glass Distress paint.

I glued my circles on to form a pattern in the background and then blended them in a bit with white paint.

I am a color addict, so I added in more color with greens and darker blues.  While that dried, I cut out and painted Altenew's Mid-Century Frame, which looked like a sun to me.  I grabbed my Dina Wakley Collage Collective books and cut out a bird image, some scallop borders and that great sentiment.  As I played around with the positioning of all these paper components, I thought my tag looked too long, so I cut the two ends off and turned it into a card instead.

I was left to assemble this, which I did.  I glued everything on and tweaked the paint color around the bird a little so it was a lighter/brighter pink.  I stamped some text around the birdie's head from Inky Antics' Encouraging Words set.  With everything glued together, this project was done!

Here are the supplies I used, which you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
