I started by watching a bunch of YouTube videos on how to use foil. :) I decided to go with the stamp, emboss, heat-the-foil method. It began with stamping some Dina Wakley images onto Strathmore mixed media paper that was cut into tag shapes. I stamped the images with embossing ink, then covered the images with white embossing powder, then heat set it with a heat tool. Next, I cut a piece of foil and laid it over my embossed images (with the pretty side of the foil facing up) and ran it through a cheapy laminator. I didn't sandwich it between anything-- just the embossed tag with foil on top. Here's how it looked when it came out of the laminator and I peeled the foil off:
It's hard to capture the shine through photos, but this is a rose-gold-colored foil. Next up, I used my Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers and added color. Then I shook some Infusions stain onto the tags and spritzed them with water.
As I'm prone to do, I then added some acrylic paint here and there (white and other various colors).
With my backgrounds situated, it was just a matter of cutting and adding some scraps and stamped elements. The numbers are from Inky Antics' Big Houses stamp set and the ring is cut from a scrap of Yupo paper I'd decorated with alcohol ink.
I tied a piece of embroidery floss through the top of each tag.
Here's an angled shot I took to try and show the foiled parts more clearly.
I'm glad that I ventured into the world of foil! It's always good to learn a new skill set and I had a lot of fun.
Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
