My Other Creations: Color Swatches using Waffle Flower Stamps

This week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is Monochrome.  I thought it would be the perfect excuse to whip out my Waffle Flower stamps and dies that are dedicated to making color swatches and a color wheel.  Here are all the yummy monochromatic goodies I made to help me see the shades of some of my favorite watercolors and water-soluble crayons.

And don't forget the awesomeness that is STAMPtember (going on now)!

The swatch tags are easy to make- just cut the tag with a die and stamp on whichever swatch-detail stamp you want.  I made these for a set of my watercolors and used Strathmore cold press watercolor paper.  Ranger Jet Black Archival ink is ideal for this because it won't smudge or bleed when you watercolor over it.

And here they are all colored-in.

The color wheel was also a lot of fun (die and stamp set).

I also made some long swatches to have a visual guide for my water-soluable crayons.  I like the versatility of this stamp set, which allows you to mix and match swatch lengths and sections however you want.  Both the long swatch stamp and the color wheel stamp were bigger than the biggest acrylic block I had, so I ended up sticking them to my Sizzix Big Shot cutting plate.  Worked great as a substitute acrylic block!

I love getting messy when I craft, but I also love to be organized, so this was a great project that was both fun and functional.

My Other Creations: Gift Boxes using Inky Antics' Wonder Girl Stamps (Designed by Andrea Ockey Parr)

We're midway through the STAMPtember celebrations at Simon Says Stamp and what a great month it's been so far!  And we're keeping the party going with this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme which is, "It's a Wrap" (packaging of some sort).  I decided to make some gift boxes using some of the stamps I drew which are now produced by Inky Antics.

To make the individual components of these box bands, I cut some patterned paper for the background and some scalloped pieces out of some collage paper I'd made for an earlier project.  The scalloped edge was cut with a die from Pink and Main.  Next I stamped the girls, colored them with alcohol ink markers and cut dresses for them out of more scrap paper.

All that was left was the assembly step!  I layered all the elements and glued them down just to the box lids (so the lids could still be easily removed).

I wanted some more dimension, so I added Tim Holtz paper bouquet flowers.  I colored them with Distress Ink that I'd watered down and dripped onto the flower petals.  I also added some string and tags from Mama Elephant to finish these off.

My Other Creations: Notebooks Using Dina Wakley's Funky Silhouettes

The STAMPtember party continues on at Simon Says Stamp!  The theme for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to use more than one stencil.  I loved whipping out my stencils, which always add such great texture and visual interest.  I decided to make a couple of new mini notebooks using several of my favorite stencils.

I started with Strathmore Mixed Media paper, white paint, and Dina Wakley's Spaced Dots stencil (because I'm dot-obsessed).  I often smoosh white paint through stencils onto white paper just to have some shapes emerge from the background.  Once my white dots emerged, I placed Darkroom Door's Large mesh stencil on top of that and smeared navy blue paint (Dina Wakley's Night color) on top of the dots.  Once that dried, I put Tim Holtz's Stars stencil on top of that and smeared more white paint through.  Then I sprayed Dylusions Ink Spray (in Bubblegum Pink) onto the Spaced Dot stencil and used the stencil like a stamp (spray side down).  I dried it with a heat tool and added paint in purple and green.

Things were looking a little crazy here, so I went over the whole thing with a layer of white paint.

I wanted to create my own patterned paper to cut into little pieces and add to the covers, so I smeared some paint onto a Tim Holtz stamp (Remnants) and spritzed the stamp with water.  Then I stamped it onto paper and this was the result:

I cut this patterned paper into circles and scraps and incorporated them into the background of my notebook covers.  I traced and fussy-cut the figure shapes using Dina Wakley's Funky Silhouettes stencil and added them to the front.

I finished the notebooks off with some stamped shapes and sentiments (heat embossed) from a few stamp sets that I designed for Inky Antics.
