Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Tag Trio using Carabelle Studio's Fairy Town and Little People Stamp Sets

Hello, hello and happy 2022!  It's January 3rd and so far, so good!  We are jumping right into the new year with a challenge theme of Something NEW over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.  It seemed like the perfect excuse to buy some new stamps from Carabelle Studio, which we're also featuring, and which I was only too glad to do.  I then proceeded to make a tag trio with these fantastically quirky stamp images.

I started by stamping the images on white cardstock with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink, fussy-cutting them out, and decorating them with washi tape and paint.  The stamp sets I used are called Fairy Town and Little People.  Once the paint dries, I like to go back in and outline the black stamp lines with a black pen or marker if they got too faded out under all that paint.

And what, oh what, to attach the tags to?  I went with these adorable mini tags from Studio Light (Art by Marlene: So-fish-ticated).  I used Ranger Kraft paper and Strathmore Mixed Media white paper for the double-layers here.

I don't know why I bothered to use Kraft paper, because I ended up covering all that lovely cardboardy brown with different layers of acrylic paint (eyeroll to myself).  It is the endless cycle of painting colors, then painting white over it to tone it down, then painting more colors, then more white...it would drive you nuts to watch in live action, but there you have it.  Once I had the color on, I wanted to add some faint black-and-white line imagery, so I stamped more images onto my painted tags.

I laid my fussy-cut images on top of the tags and that's when I realized that the square tag looked a little sparse with just the mushroom on it, so I stamped, cut, and decorated another image to add to the tag.

With all of my forefront pieces done and the backgrounds ready, I glued everything together and was done!  Here's a close-up of each:

These little tags were fun to make and the images were fantastic from the get-go!

Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
