I'll be honest: this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme scared me to death! The theme is monochrome and the only thing that would've made me hyperventilate even more is if it would've been monochrome white! Be that as it may, I really did survive the challenge and enjoyed it in the long run. Here are the three tags I made, each one showing a monochromatic color scheme.
I started by using Reverse Confetti's new Big Stripes Cover Plate die, which is fabulous. I wrapped the die-cut paper around white tags.
Next I spritzed on some ink and glued on a piece of text from an old book. I outlined the words of the sentiment that I wanted to show up. I also found a black scribbly circle stamp that would fit around the sentiment just right (Taylored Expressions Stroke of Genius 2 set).
I smudged on some white and pink acrylic paint, then I stamped around the circle with Ranger Jet Black Archival and also added a Seth Apter die-cut ring around the sentiment (his wonderful Robo Rings die in this case). I also stamped some black ink splats up the side using My Favorite Things' Distressed Patterns stamp.
I smudged more ink here and there and added some stitched stamping around the edges (Bo Bunny's Stitches stamp) and glued on some hearts. I finished it off with a paperclip and some yarn strung through the tag's hole.
I had to show a close-up of Seth Apter's cool Ring Around die, too!
This monochrome theme almost had me beat, but I really enjoyed it in the end. I especially got a kick out of trying to highlight certain words out of book texts to form the sentiments for each tag.

Snapping Monsters Stamps: Color Wheel Stamp
Hello, hello! Just thought I'd do a quick post to show a card I made with the Color Wheel stamp that comes in my new Artistic Essentials stamp set, which is sold through my Etsy shop. You can look at my introductory post about the stamp set which shows the images in detail.
I made this card using my color wheel stamp in the background along with a bird stencil I cut. The paper is my favorite Prima line ever (Epiphany) which is now retired. I also threw on the grid line stamp from the set (at the base of the card) and the "She spoke of happy things" stamp in the background.
The sentiments are cut from an old book (the bird phrase is a shout out to you, Mimi!) and I colored the color wheel stamp by smudging Distress Ink on the squares, then cutting out the whole wheel and sticking it to the patterned paper base, which I also inked up.
Thanks to all those who've been so supportive of this stamp set and my projects. I'm always uplifted by the creative energy of others. And since it is Memorial Day Weekend, I want to close with my gratitude to those who've bravely gone before us and whose sacrifices have given me the gift of peace and freedom. I feel very blessed to live where I do with the people that I love.

My Other Creations: Wish Catcher Altered Tin
It's another Monday and that means another fabulous challenge theme over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. This week's theme is, "Make a Wish." I got to thinking about how wishes are made such as on shooting stars or with pennies thrown into a fountain. But with all of that wishing going on all over the world, I started hoping that nobody's wishes fell through the cracks. That gave me the idea to make a Wish Catcher who would scoop up any stray wishes that might've gotten lost. And why not make her retro-trendy-classy, too? Here she is:
The Wish Catcher girl is from Tim Holtz's Found Relatives-Occasions card sets and I covered her dress with Washi tape. I made her wish-catching net out of wire, tulle, and tinsel twine. The tin is a mini bread loaf pan that I found at a thrift store. I sanded it, then painted the outside pink and the inside teal using Gesso, Distress Paint and Dina Wakley acrylic paint. The city scene is made from a fabulous stamp set called Urban Scribble, which I colored with Distress Ink and layered. The side panel features a great typewriter image from Kaisercraft's My Year, My Story stamp set and I also added some Tim Holtz Symphony Washi tape. I made wheels for the city scene out of spools, Bingo game pieces and Reverse Confetti's Swirly dies. The "wish" words are from Paper Smooches' Chart Toppers stamp set.
These are the supplies I used which you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
The theme of wishes is such a magical one and I can't wait to see what you come up with! Upload your creations to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store.
