"From Scratch" is the theme this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog, so I decided to make some matchbook notes starting from good old patterned paper and die cuts.
These are a snap to make using the Lifestyle Crafts matchbook die. I like to make matchbook notes because they are visually interesting and not your typical shape for a greeting card, tag or thank you note.
I know that "back in the day," matchbook covers were very decorative, so I tried to make mine mimic that with some vintage images that I cut out of my patterned paper.
Once I wrote the note inside, I folded up the matchbook and wrapped ribbon/yarn around the top and added some flowers and number plaquettes. You could throw anything on top of these to jazz them up (buttons, flair pins, buckles, etc.) or you could leave them as-is and they still look great.
I always go to the matchbook die when I need a quick little card or tag. I love the matchbook shape!
Here are some of the supplies that you can get at Simon Says Stamp that I used to make these little notes:
The great thing about this week's "from scratch" challenge is that it is referring to crafting and not cooking! ;) So do be sure to upload a picture of your creation to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. You'll inspire many others and will enter yourself into the drawing for the $50 Simon Says Stamp gift voucher, so it really is a win-win.
